This page describes Thunderbird's configuration options as they relate to downloading messages.


Specify the secure connection type and authentication method for a mail server

Menu location: ToolsEdit > Account Settings > account name > Server Settings

Specify whether Thunderbird should check for new messages at startup

Menu location: ToolsEdit > Account Settings > account name > Server Settings

Configure the name of a mail server

Menu location: ToolsEdit > Account Settings > account name > Server Settings

Specify the port that Thunderbird should use to communicate with a mail server

Specify how often Thunderbird should automatically check for new messages

Configure whether Thunderbird should automatically download new messages (POP servers)

Specify whether messages over a certain size should not be downloaded (POP)
