Wrangler Round-Up: Emrys Green
In the run-up to the 2019 Festival, we’ll be chatting with our Space Wranglers, the community volunteers who shape each year’s Festival narrative curate our amazing program of sessions at MozFest weekend.
This week we’re getting to know Emrys Green, wrangler in the Youth Zone. Emrys has been involved with the Festival since 2015, and he’s been a wrangler since 2016, contributing to the Arts & Culture Experience and Youth Zone. When he’s not pitching in at MozFest, Emrys is a Project Manager for events, arts and digital projects.
Current favorite book/movie/song/app/meme/video: The complete collection of Sherlock Holmes (book) because it’s a style I don’t often read but a topic I enjoy. And the fact it’s broken in to all the books and shorter stories so I can dip in and out more easily.
What draws you to MozFest? It’s the people! The global family — I love learning about and engaging with different cultures and Mozfest is a unique opportunity for this — as well as learning so much more about the web and tech.
What unique perspective(s) do you bring to space wrangling? Over a decade of event organising with and for young people in a professional capacity; but also as a tech project manager who understands tech but doesn’t know half as much as most people wrangling or attending — so I can tie threads together, generate a perspective from someone outside of the ‘zone’ but with a comprehension of the macro-factors.
What’s a favorite experience you’ve had wrangling? In 2018, it was seeing our space come together as a whole, but particularly our making space which incorporated a lounge area and really cool tech exhibition from our European friends. It was a room full of so much joy all weekend and I love that.
What link or resource would you like to share?VOICE magazine — really growing at a pace and somewhat an archive. a snapshot of what’s been going on at MozFest the past few years (just search for “MozFest” on the site).
